2021 UWS2 All-Mid-Atlantic North Conference Awards

Metuchen, NJ — The 2021 UWS League Two season may have concluded at the end of July on the pitch, but the news has not stopped, as the annual end-of-season awards are still being announced by conference. In the Mid-Atlantic North Conference, Lancaster Inferno II (6-1-1) finished as champions, with Keystone FC (5-1-2) trailing right behind.  Both sides were recognized when it came to the top individual honors awarded this season.

Mid-Atlantic North Conference Defensive Player of the Year – D - Lauren Costello (Keystone FC) - At center back, Costello contributed to 2 shutouts and added 1 assist. She was key in keeping the backline intact, winning balls out of the air, and helping Keystone finish with the least amount of goals against in the conference (6).

Mid-Atlantic North Conference Offensive Player of the Year – F – Maddie Carper (Lancaster Inferno II) - Carper, who plays at Lebanon Valley College/PA, had the second highest number of goals scored in UWS League Two (5), and added 1 assist. Scoring multiple game winning goals, Carper dominated in the attack and created numerous scoring opportunities for Lancaster.

Mid-Atlantic North Conference Coach of the Year —  Wendell Hannaford (Lancaster Inferno II)

Wendell Hannaford has been named Coach of the Year after guiding Lancaster (6-1-1) to finish at the top of the table in the conference. Hannaford has been the Head Coach of Warwick HS Girls Varsity team since 2016 and has been coaching club soccer in the U17-U19 age groups since 2018. Previously, he was an assistant coach with both the men's and women's teams at Albright College from 2009-2012. As a goalkeeper at Albright College, Hannaford was named to the All-Conference team in 2007 and currently holds the career record for "Most Shutouts.”
