Metuchen, NJ — With one game played in week one of the UWS, it is time to crank up the heat in the Summer of Soccer in week 2 with 10 matches to be played across the 4 divisions.

East Division

Saturday, May 20 

Flower City Union vs FC Buffalo

Start Time: 2:30 PM EST

Venue: Rochester Sports (Rochester, NY)

UWS newcomer Flower City Union hosts last year's semi-finalists FC Buffalo in what could be a budding rivalry for years to come in the eastern conference. FC Buffalo sees the return of Maya Palmer and Djeyenaba Thiam who helped the club with a 7-1-2 record. Flower City Union comes into the season with high expectations and hopes to make a big impression on the eastern conference in their first official match.

Coppermine United vs Lancaster Inferno

Start Time: 5:00 PM EST

Venue: Coppermine Norris (Baltimore, MD)

A big-time rivalry starts the season as Coppermine hosts Lancaster Inferno. Coppermine, who extinguished the Inferno’s postseason dreams in the last match of the season, looks to continue to build off a successful first season after promotion in the UWS. Meanwhile, the Inferno looks to make a comeback in 2023 with ambitions of making the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Erie Commodores vs Steel City FC

Start Time: 5:30 PM EST

Venue: Gannon U (Erie, PA)

In a battle of second-year teams, the Erie Commodores play host to Steel City FC. Last season Erie ended higher in the table after a 5-win regular season while Steel City FC was below them in a very tough Penn-NY division. Steel City looks to improve off their 2022 and will hope to get off to a good start in 2023.

CT Rush vs Albany Rush

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: East Haven HS (East Have, CT)

Connecticut Rush welcomes the Albany Rush to East Haven HS in a game that has bragging rights for the Rush programs. Both teams combined for 7 wins in 2022 with Albany ending with 5 of those wins. Connecticut hopes to turn that around in 2023 while both teams have high hopes for the season and possibly a playoff ticket too.

Sunday, May 21 

BC United vs Keystone FC 

Start Time: 6:00 PM EST

Venue: Binghamton U (East Vestal, NY)

Keystone FC travels to Binghamton to take on BC United, who looks to make a strong impression on the East conference in their first UWS action. BC United looks to tap into its youth programs to provide an opportunity for the future as a new club in UWS. Keystone FC returns for another season out in Mechanicsburg, PA looking to build off a strong 2022 season.

Maine Footy vs NE Mutiny 

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Deering HS (Portland, ME)

Maine Footy welcomes a NE Mutiny side that looks to continue its hot start in 2023 after scoring 7 goals in their first match. Maine Footy has generated a buzz in the offseason as the newest club and hopes to do the same on the pitch against a strong Mutiny side that looks to be the side that takes the East in 2023. 

Great Lakes Division

Sunday, May 21 

Futsal Factory vs MI Jaguars

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Dexter HS (Dexter, MI)

Two games in three days for Futsal Factory could be difficult on the legs but they will be up for the challenge as they host a Jaguar side that finished the 2022 season strong and look to continue the trend of teams that make big leaps from year one to year two in UWS.

Michigan Hawks vs Livonia City

Start Time: 7:30 PM EST

Venue: Schoolcraft College (Livonia, MI)

The Michigan Hawks prepare for the 2023 campaign like every other year with high standards and an in-house expectation of being a competitive side as they welcome Livonia City to the UWS. This won’t be an easy task for Livonia against the Hawks, as the Hawks are historically a team that scores a lot of goals.

Midwest Division

Saturday, May 20 

Edgewater Castle vs Cincinnati Sirens

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Fire Pitch (Chicago IL)

The UWS Kickoff match of the week promises to be an exciting one as Edgewater Castle gets ready for the Sirens of Cincinnati. Both teams are new to the UWS and looking to make a splash in the Midwest division that has been interesting the past few years and with some similar faces in new places promises to be exciting this season. Is this the first Summer of Soccer that a new team reaches the finals?

United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is a national pro-am league founded in December 2015 on the basis of providing equality, opportunity, and respect for the women’s game. UWS has proven to be an innovative league that has paved the way for the further advancement of women’s soccer. Eighty-plus teams based in the United States and Canada comprise two distinct levels of competition: UWS and UWS League Two (UWS2).

With over 38 NWSL draftees & 100 professional contracts to its name, UWS provides high-level competition for college players, aspiring & former professionals, and international stars. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship.
