Inferno Looking to Overcome Season Opener Loss

Wednesday’s Matchup Against Christos FC Brings Fresh Opportunity for Inferno

Lancaster, PA – After narrowly falling 1-0 to 2023 East Conference Champions Eagle FC on Sunday, May 19 in their 2024 USL W League debut, Lancaster Inferno’s First Team looks to bounce back against Christos FC this Wednesday. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. at Anne Arundel Community College – Siegert Field in Arnold, MD. Access to the full 2024 Inferno schedule can be found HERE.

Christos FC has two prior games under their belts. On May 15, they topped the Charlottesville Blues FC 6-2 as last year’s USL W League Golden Boot Winner Baylee DeSmit (Loyola) scored two goals. In 2023, DeSmit had a record-breaking season for Christos FC, posting 21 regular season goals and six assists, leading them to their first-ever playoff appearance. They were then shutout 3-0 by the Virginia Marauders FC on May 18.

With second-year Head Coach Stephanie Cleaves and her staff leading the Inferno, a team with thirteen returning players and six newcomers, she embraces the competition that the USL W League Mid Atlantic Division poses and hopes to get her team back on track early.

After the Inferno returns from Maryland, they will then shift their sights to their home opener on Sunday. They will face NOVA FC with kickoff at 6pm at Franklin & Marshall College (Tylus Field). The game will hold a Memorial Day theme and will feature a Hometown Hero Presentation for Army Veteran and valued community member Mr. Howard Kramer.
