Inferno Looks to Continue Momentum After Posting First Win of the Season

Northern Virginia FC Comes to Town for Inferno’s Home Opener Sunday

Lancaster, PA – Lancaster Inferno looks to carry over the momentum from their 2-0 win over Christos FC on Wednesday to their Sunday home opener against Northern Virginia FC. Kickoff will take place at 6 p.m. at Franklin & Marshall’s Tylus Field.

This special event will feature food trucks, a mini parade flag giveaway, and a Hometown Hero Presentation to celebrate Memorial Day. Veterans and active or retired military personnel will be admitted into the game for FREE. Mr. Howard Kramer, Vietnam Veteran and valued community member will be honored prior to the game. After last Sunday’s 1-0 season opener loss to Eagle FC, the Inferno were able to bounce back against Christos FC Wednesday night. With goals by Marissa DiGenova and Kayla Keefer in the first half, accompanied by a clean sheet from goalkeeper Ellie Breech, the Inferno secured their first win of the season and the first of many in the USL W League. Read the match recap HERE. Northern Virginia FC has played one previous game in which they beat Patuxent 10-1. They play Virgina Mauraders FC this Friday prior to facing Lancaster Inferno on Sunday.

“We’re excited for our home opener in the USL W League as we host Northern Virginia FC,” said Head Coach Stephanie Cleaves. ”It’s going to be a tight race for playoffs in our division and we would love to have the support of our soccer community cheering us on this Sunday!”

Next, the Inferno will have roughly a week’s rest before their next matchup. They will continue the homestand, this time against the Virginia Marauders FC with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Warwick High School’s Turf Stadium (Lititz, PA). Further details can be viewed HERE.
