Following another competitive season in United Women’s Soccer (UWS), Lancaster Inferno (7-3-0) qualified for East Conference playoffs. The top 4 teams will be competing for a spot representing the East Conference in the National Championship Tournament taking place July 19-21.
Inferno finished it’s regular season in 3rd place, behind 1st seed New England Mutiny (8-0-2) and 2nd seed Connecticut Fusion (8-0-2), with Long Island Rough Riders (5-5-0) rounding things out in 4th.
The Inferno faces Connecticut Fusion in Farmington, CT for the second time this season. The two teams faced off on Connecticut’s home turf in Inferno’s first match of the season, resulting in a 1-0 loss from a late goal.
We’re going to face a very strong team with a sophisticated style of play. It’s going to come down to which team wants it more & has the least amount of errors.
Coach Francisco Cleaves
The Inferno is banking on their experience as East Conference Champions last season as an advantage. There are 9 of the 11 starters from the team that beat Connecticut Fusion in the East Conference final last season.
Tonight’s match between Inferno and Connecticut is at 7:00PM. (Read more and find live-stream link.) Whoever comes out victorious will face the winner of tonight’s other East Conference semifinal between NE Mutiny and LI Rough Riders. WATCH LIVE ON MYCUJOO>
Our team knows that we can win on the road. It will take us connecting as a team & capitalizing on our opportunities.
