The first match of Lancaster Inferno’s Double Header Dadurday had a 3:00PM kickoff on Saturday, June 15th, when Lancaster Inferno U23 faced the Baltimore Lady Warriors.
The match began with a fierce offensive from Baltimore, forcing Lancaster to the defensive. However, Inferno soon pushed back.
At the 17 minute mark, Inferno’s #4 Lily Heistand passed the ballto #20 Aubrey Williamson, who scored the first goal of the match. A mere six minutes later, Inferno’s #11 Jessica Williamson, put the ball in the net for the second goal of the match.
Encouraged by the lead, Inferno began a determined, nonstop offensive against the Lady Warriors’ iron-clad defense. The intensity between the two teams grew with Lancaster’s unrelenting offensive, leading to the referees issuing a caution to players on both teams around 40′.
Literally seconds before the end of the first half, Inferno’s #30 Addisyn Martin scored the third goal of the game, taking Inferno into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
In the second half Baltimore showed that they were not ready to settle for a shutout by leading an immediate and forceful push. At the 46th minute, Baltimore brought the score to 3-1 with a successful shot on goal by their #17.
At 50′ Lancaster Inferno’s #10 Hannah Geiser found the back of the net, giving Inferno back their 3 point lead and bringing the score to 4-1.
Inferno’s Aubrey Williamson passed the ball up to #6 Emily Wertz, who the fifth goal for the team.
What followed was a tense 30 minutes of nonstop competition, however Lancaster Inferno U23 would hold out and end the match with a winning score of 5-1 of the Baltimore Lady Warriors.
Aubrey Williamson earned Lusk & Associates Sotheby’s International Player of the Match honors for her outstanding performance during the game.
Lancaster Inferno U23 is returning to the Turf Stadium at Warwick High School next Saturday, June 22nd when they taken on MSI for the first match in another double header.
