A Bright & Burning Victory for Inferno

Inferno wins against Patuxent FA 10-0

On Saturday, June 15th, Lancaster Inferno faced Patuxent FA at Warwick High School and came out with their 6th straight win of the 2024 season.

Unfortunately, Patuxent was down 2 players due to traffic related issues, so their 9 players put up a valient effort in the intense heat vs Inferno’s 18-man game day roster. What followed was an uncontested victory with the entire match played in Patuxent’s half of the field.

In the first half of the match, Inferno led a flaming offensive scoring a total of 7 goals before halftime. The first goal of the match was around the two minute mark and, although Lancaster didn’t go full steam, it was difficult not to score in such a lop-sided match. First half goals were:

2’ – #25 Teresa Rook (assist by #17 Carly Keene)
10’ – #33 Maddie Mohr (assist by #2 Olivia Shertzer)
17’ – #21 Maddie Levy (assist by #8 Carolyn Hinkle)
26’ – #21 Maddie Levy (assist by #8 Carolyn Hinkle)
37’ – #4 Rachel Ludwick (assist by #5 Jessica Weinoldt)
43’ – #8 Carolyn Hinkle (assist by #21 Maddie Levy)

At the 45th minute, just as half time struck, the seventh goal was scored by Inferno’s Levy, assisted by Keene. The score was 7-0 at halftime as Lancaster Inferno dominated Patuxent FA.

Patauxent changed their game plan in the second half, basically putting all of their players in front of the goal. This was a somewhat effective way of slowing the Inferno offense, but the inevitable happened and about 20 minutes into the second half, Inferno was able to break through the line.

At 67’ #9 Natalie Magnotta scored, assisted by #3 Anouk Landgraff. Five minutes later, Inferno’s #27 Jackie Richards scored with an assisted from #31 Rachel Eberly.

The tenth and final nail in the coffin would be at 87’, just minutes before the final whistle, when Inferno’s Magnotta scored off an assist from #20 Eva Wierzbowski.

The final score of the match was a decisive and burning victory for Inferno, with 10-0.
