United Women’s Soccer set for full weekend slate

Metuchen, NJ -- Top-of-the-table battles and local rivalries highlight what should be an outstanding weekend of competition in United Women’s Soccer, with action in every division throughout the country.

Central Conference

Great Lakes Division

Friday, June 3

Cap City Athletic vs Corktown Hawks

Start Time: 7:00pm EST

Venue: East Lansing Soccer Complex (East Lansing, Michigan)

Corktown Hawks head on the road looking for their third win in three games to open the season. One point behind Nationals FC at the top of the division, Corktown Hawks have yet to concede a goal so far this year. Cap City Athletic will view this as a chance to score a statement, bounce-back win after falling to Michigan Jaguars last week.

Michigan Jaguars vs Muskegon Risers

Start Time: 7:00pm EST

Venue: Walled Lake Central (Commerce, Michigan)

Fresh off their first win at the UWS level, Michigan Jaguars have a chance to keep the momentum flowing in a positive direction as they play host to Muskegon Risers. The visitors will be hoping to build a platform for themselves after three difficult results to begin the 2022 season.

Sunday, June 5

Cap City Athletic vs Michigan Jaguars

Start Time: 1:00pm EST

Venue: East Lansing Soccer Complex (East Lansing, Michigan)

It’s a busy weekend for both these clubs as they collide Sunday for the second time in two weeks. Michigan Jaguars emerged from the last contest as 3-2 winners following a thrilling comeback, but Cap City will have its home fans to lean on this time around as it looks for payback.

Corktown Hawks vs Nationals FC

Start Time: 7:00pm EST

Venue: Wisner Stadium (Pontiac, Michigan)

This battle of early season success stories could have major implications on how the Great Lakes Division shakes out. Both clubs enter this weekend without a loss on their ledger, with Nationals FC holding a one-point advantage on Corktown Hawks while having played an additional game. This contest should feature plenty of quality, intense soccer.

Heartland Division

Friday, June 3

Gretna Elite vs Sporting Nebraska

Start Time: 7:00pm CST

Venue: Caniglia Field (Omaha, Nebraska)

Coming off a 6-0 dismantling of Side FC 92 last Sunday, the confidence will be flowing for Gretna Elite heading into a home game against Sporting Nebraska. The visitors have acquitted themselves well through two games at the UWS level, picking up one win and one loss while conceding just a single goal.

Saturday, June 4

KC Courage vs Arkansas Wolves

Start Time: 3:00pm CST

Venue: Rockhurst University (Kansas City, Missouri)

It’s been a positive start to the season for Kansas City Courage, collecting two wins from the opening three games. They’ll be out for a third victory in this home game against UWS rookies Arkansas Wolves. The visitors have made it clear that they won’t be pushed around so far this season, though, allowing just two goals on the year despite two defeats.

Sunday, June 5

Arkansas Comets vs Side FC 92

Start Time: 2:00pm CST

Venue: Har-Ber Wildcat Stadium (Sprindale, Arkansas)

Arkansas Comets enter this contest in search of their first result as members of UWS in their second contest. Side FC 92 comes into this game looking for a victory amid poor form. The visitors have lost three of their first four games this season while conceding 12 goals.

FC Wichita vs Gretna Elite

Start Time: 3:00pm CST

Venue: Stryker Sports Complex (Wichita, Kansas)

In what should be one of the best games across the country this weekend, FC Wichita hosts Gretna Elite for a top of the table battle. FC Wichita is one of the form sides throughout UWS in the early going, with three wins from three games. A high-scoring Gretna Elite outfit should provide a major first test for the hosts.

Midwest Division

Friday, June 3

Indiana Union vs St. Louis Scott Gallagher

Start Time: 7:00pm EST

Venue: Trinity Sports Park (Noblesville, Indiana)

Two sides with middling results so far this season meet to get things underway in the Midwest Division on Friday. Both Indiana Union and St. Louis SG have split their first two contests of the season. But with plenty of goalscoring talent on the pitch for both sides, this should be an intense and entertaining game.

Sunday, June 5

Chicago Mustangs vs Indiana Uniion

Start Time: 5:00pm EST

Two well-established clubs in the East Conference come together once again after facing off last week. Lancaster Inferno came out on top of that contest with a 2-0 win, and will look to pull a quickfire double over NJ Copa FC, which hits the road in search of its first win of the young season.

Friday, June 3

Albany Rush vs NE Mutiny

Start Time: 7:00pm EST

Venue: Riverside Brookfield High School (Albany, New York)

Two unbeaten sides collide to begin play in the New England Division this weekend. Albany Rush, with four points from two contests, will see this as a chance to pull closer to New England Mutiny, which leads the division with three wins from three games. NE Mutniy’s Catherine Barry is the player to watch here, leading UWS with five goals so far.

Venue: Guilford High School (Guilford, Connecticut)

CT Rush and Worcester Smiles conclude play in the New England Division for the weekend, with both sides still in search of their first win of the season.
