The UWS National Championship heads West for what looks to become a magical ending to a historic season.

Metuchen, NJ -- The United Women’s Soccer (UWS) national pro-am league today has announced the location of the 2023 UWS National Championship. The four-team event will take place July 22-23 In Santa Clarita, CA, home of the 4 time West Division Champions the Santa Clarita Blue Heat. This will be the second time that the Blue Heat has hosted this event and the first time since 2016.

Every match will be held at the College of the Canyons, which opened in 1969 and has a reputation for innovation, excellence, partnerships, and academic success. College of the Canyons has been an amazing UWS Community partner and has been called home by the Blue Heat since last season.

This year two teams from the East will participate in the National Championship with the winner of the Patriot and Union brackets advancing to California. Both East brackets kick off Wednesday, July 12th with the Patriot bracket seeing FC Buffalo host Albany Rush and Lancaster Inferno taking on the New England Mutiny. The winners of those two games will play for the bracket Championship and advance to California with the Union bracket winner. The Union bracket will see Sporting CT playing Maine Footy at Lusitano Stadium, the host venue of the 2022 UWS National Championship and Coppermine will take on Steel City. Both bracket Championships will be played Saturday.

The Great Lakes Division's Great Lakes Division winner will be determined on Thursday, July 13th with the top-seeded Michigan Legends hosting the Michigan Jaguars. The winner of this match will host UWS Midwest Champions UWS newcomers the Cincinnati Sirens for Central Conference Championship on Saturday, July 15th.

In a wild ending that saw the West division Champion named in the final match of the season the Santa Clarita Blue Heat came out on top after the dust settled to not only participate in the National Championship for the fourth time in their history but have an opportunity to bring home a third championship with the most recent one coming in 2021 when the Championship was hosted in Austin, Texas. 

How will the Summer of Soccer in the UWS conclude in 2023 and which teams will be representing their community in the National Championship which could see another first-time champion or can the hosts lift a third?

With over 38 NWSL draftees & 100 professional contracts to its name, UWS provides high-level competition for college players, aspiring & former professionals, and international stars. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship.
