Hall, Olsson claim Player of the Week honors

Metuchen, N.J. -- United Women’s Soccer completed its fourth week of action, showcasing a variety of excellent performances. Lone Star Republic’s Madison Hall claimed this week’s Defensive Player of the Week award, while Mallory Olsson of the Chicago Mustangs earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. 

GK - Anna Karpenko (Chicago Mustangs) - Karpenko made 11 saves total, providing a great presence in the box while making a few crucial saves in the second half when the game was breaking. She showed great composure with her feet and distributed the ball well all game in a 3-1 win over Detroit City FC.

D - Sonia Rada (Lancaster Inferno) - Rada played a major role in helping Inferno dominate possession during its weekend of back-to-backs. She also excelled out offensively by scoring a goal against NJ Copa FC in a 2-0 win. Lancaster also drew with Brooklyn City 1-1 on the weekend. 

D - Satara Murray (FC Austin Elite) - Murray, a former NWSL defender, anchored the back line in a 5-1 victory over Alacranes Fort Worth. 

D - Madison Hall #5 (Lone Star Republic) - Hall proved outstanding on defense, and scored a goal with a long run up the middle in Lone Star Republic’s 6-0 win over San Antonio Athenians.

M - Rylee Vruggink (Muskegon Risers) - Vruggink scored a goal and contributed an assist in a 4-2 win over Ladies Steel City F.C.

M - Bronwyn Boswell (Lone Star Republic) - Boswell scored three goals, two of which were outstanding, in a 6-0 win over San Antonio Athenians.

M - Mallory Olsson (Chicago Mustangs) - Olsson was a danger every time she touched the ball against Detroit City FC, scoring twice, including the winning goal, in a 3-1 victory. 

M - Jayme Woodfill (FC Austin) - Woodfill started the scoring early in a comeback 5-1 win over Alacranes Fort Worth.

F - Kennedy White (Detroit City FC) - White dominated for 90 minutes and tallied one goal in a 3-0 win over Corktown AFC.

F - Melanie Cunha (NJ Copa FC) - Cunha scored four goals in a 6-0 win over Worcester Smiles.

F - Lucy Ortiz (Williamson County FC) - Ortiz began the scoring in the ninth minute, and that turned out to be all the WilCo would need in a 3-0 victory over CTX Hornets

Honorable Mention

M - Lauren Berman (New England Mutiny) - Berman proved difficult for the defense to handle all game and scored in 2-2 tie with CT Fusion.

M - Teresa Rook (Rynier) (Lancaster Inferno) - Rook (Rynier) claimed two assists over the double-header weekend and dominated the midfield for the Inferno in a 1-1 tie with Brooklyn City FC and 2-0 win over NJ Copa FC.

M - Olivia Piraino (Albany Rush) - Piraino scored a crucial goal in a 3-2 win over Rochester Lancers.

F - Maegen Doyle (CT Fusion) - Doyle opened the scoring with a finish into the bottom right corner for Connecticut and added a free kick goal in a 2-2 draw with NE Mutiny.

F - Olga Massombo (Bat Country FC) - Massombo found the back of the net in a 3-3 draw with Side FC 92.

F - Vanessa Fitch (Side FC 92) - Fitch dominated and contributed two assists in a 3-3 draw with Bat Country FC.

Offensive POTW: Mallory Olsson (Chicago Mustangs) 

Defensive POTW: Madison Hall #5 (Lone Star Republic)
