Lancaster, PA — Lancaster Inferno is excited to announce the first round of player signings for their 2023 season in UWS League Two (UWS2). The team has won back-to-back championship titles the past two seasons, and looks to build upon it’s success.
In the first installment, sixteen players return to Lancaster Inferno’s U23 Team. The group consists of current/post college players and a few high school standouts. The two post-college players include Jordan Rosengrant (Robert Morris) and 2021 UWS2 Offensive Player of the Year, Maddie Carper (LVC), who also coach in Lancaster Inferno FC’s all-girls travel soccer club.
Current college players include Maddie Root (Youngstown State), Annie Slovak (Liberty), Ava Goodman (Liberty), Jessica Williamson (Delaware Valley), Aubrey Williamson (Lycoming), Abby Aughe (Southern Connecticut State), Lauren Weaver (LVC), Gabi Hollinger (Eastern), Hailey Shillabeer (King’s), and Megan Burkholder (Eastern).
In addition, 2022 Mid-Atlantic North Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Ashley Hollinger (Eastern) and Goalkeeper of the Year, Jocelyn Umana (LVC) have re-signed.
High School senior standouts Annabelle Wunderlich (Shepherd) and Cheyenne McCloud (St. Joseph’s) have also re-signed with the team.
“I look forward to having these 16 players back with Inferno,” said coach Wendell Hannaford. “Their quality and class has been on display the past two seasons and I’m excited to see our continued growth. This group provides us with an extremely strong core to build upon to continue competing against the high quality opposition that we see in our Conference. They are an exceptional group of young women that are true role models for the younger generations of soccer players.”
Some of these players will be coaches for Inferno’s Summer of Excellence program, which is geared towards girls ages 8-17 who have a strong desire to improve their game.
Stay tuned for more signings announcements and the game schedule for the 2023 season.
